` Steve Harris, Forever ! `

INTRODUCTION

Four persons, Steve Harris (G), Alan Kelly (Ds), Mark Padrick (B), and Paddy Mackenna (Key), had already met in the band called "Trojan"
early in the 1980s. Four persons' encounter was all the beginnings to "SHY" formation. As a result of thinking that "Trojan" needs to improve the present condition, decision said that it makes TonyMills (Vo) join temporarily was made. The band name was also simultaneously changed from "Trojan" to "SHY". They thought that they would form the band which pushed forward youth modernly and melodious. They who heard "David Bowi", "Boston", "Journey", etc., and grew up started "SHY" as a band in which the influence is impressed.

A contract with a minor label

In 1982, EBONY manufactured the compilation album called "MetalWorriors". "SHY" was chosen as this album and they offered music "Tonight" behind recorded on 1st album. However, the EBONY side did not invest, but each band pays, and is manufactured, and the expense of this compilation album is assumed to have not been unable to press many for that reason. It was told that it makes an album to the "SHY" side probably because EBONY satisfied the result of the compilation album, and the "SHY" side decided to receive Tony Mills as a regular member. In the compilation album, manufacture expense became the same the payment by the side of a band although they with whom the member gathered began to record 1st album. And the completed album was "Once Bitten...Twice SHY". Although it was this album of having sold 5,000 sets, it is sales of hit nature exceptional as an indies label of those days, and, seemingly, had appeared in some indies charts. However, saying that it does not come out to a used board market considering the sales of 5,000 sheets may be telling the merit of this album.

Major Diehl's acquisition

Having hit with the indies chart will bring about a contract with RCA. A bassist will take the place of Roy Stephan Davis in 1984, and "Brave The Storm" will be made. A producer's Tony Platt will add instruction to a band, and, as a result, it will act on manufacture of this album to plus for the future of a band, and led to it to completion of 2nd album beyond 1st album. And as for the single, two sheets, "Hold On (to your love)" and "Reflections", were released. Although tour was made to UFO or Twisted Sister about live tour, it was also rare for the popularity of "SHY" not to exceed their popularity and to become the center of attention.

Encounter with the advance into the United States, and various persons

"SHY" will be crossed to the U.S., in order to record a new album. Niel Kernon was invited to Producer, cooperation of Don Dokken etc. was obtained, track down was performed in the Netherlands, and "Excess All Areas" was announced in 1987. Mr. Haward Johnson of the KERRANG! magazine was saying, "SHY will be an uncanny band if justice remains in this music industry". "SHY" is to appear in Meat Loaf, Gary Moore, and live tour, and is beginning to serve as a band of an arena class. The sales of the album were also beginning to increase, and I was able to consider in Europe as if it achieved a big success.

And they participate in the "27th Reading festival" in 1987, and store a great success. They had also almost become the timing which greets a leap greatly.

From a major label to a minor label

The sale of the album was able to go up, live tour could also be successful, and it was able to participate also in the big festival. Although "SHY" tended to greet the big leap, RCA will cut a contract with "SHY" for cost reduction. It cannot be overemphasized that this thing was subtracted to their success so far. However, "SHY" contracted with FM Records which is an indies label in 1988, in order to look for the place which works even if a contract with a major company is cut, EP "Just Love Me" containing the three live was announced, and "SHY" advertized the living thing.

Again, it is the challenge to a major label

Also fortunately, "SHY" adhering to a major label was able to gain the contract with MCA in June, 1988.@Roy Tormas Baker which is an important figure producer was invited to the producer of their next album, and it was announced by the title of "Misspent Youth" in 1989.@Then, although "EnuffZ'nuff", "Badlands", "SleezeBeez" and others, and live tour were performed, problems, such as internal personnel affairs of MCA, were also involved, there was not sufficient promotion, either, and sales of the album were not quite satisfactory, either.@After all, a contract with MCA will also be lost in one work, and will be left to Tony Mills of vocal.

One work to which recovery was applied

A keyboardist's Roy makes the vocal of band "TROBLE" which was on the register before, and Wardy join as new vocal, and will announce "Welcome To The Madhouse" by producing of Neil Kernon in 1994.@Although it was not bad in work, it became a thing completely different from the "SHY" till then, and did not call it a success in sales.@And after losing Tony, the vigor of the band also damped, and "SHY" has taken down the curtain at the end of 1995.

Tony's recovery

On the other hand, Tony Mills formed "SIAM", gained the contract in 1994, and announced "The Language Of Menace."@Moreover, although "Prayer" of the 2nd sheet was announced, a band will greet a dismissal as most reports about the main activities after an album announcement are not heard by it.

The motion which was applied with activity of the actual band and left

The motion to which BMG Victor of Japan entitles "TheEternal Master Works 70's to 80's", and it makes a noted board of those days recur came out. And May "Brave The Storm", 1996 and "Excess All Areas" are put on the market as CD. The former is unpublished and will be introduced for the first time in Japan. Single record inclusion music etc. would carry out additional inclusion, and both will upgrade, and will appear. It was especially set to "Excess All Areas" with the release to which the uniformly good bonus track in which album music is not lost is added. Then, even "OnceBitten...Twice SHY" of a phantom will be put on CD and put on the market in June, 1998. PonyCanyon tried the work which unearths the work of Ebony of those days with Neat Metal, and attained to sale. It is kind. Moreover, it will release as what unpublished music of those days was also unearthed simultaneously, and added it. And it entered in 1999 and PonyCanyon and Neat Metal have put two pieces "Renegade/Live In Europe" of coupling on the market for unpublished music and the live.

The new album (?) was announced at last in July, 1999. It is "Let The Hammer Fall". It seems that however, the contents are not called full-scale new album. Remake music, unpublished music, etc. are collected. It will be thought that usual "SHY" impact became weak in the meaning said so. but seemingly all the music recorded is them -- hard -- it is pop. If remake music is introduced, they are "Let The Hammer Fall"(Shake The Nation) and "Love Is Just Another Word"(After The Love Is Gone).

The announcement of a record company transfer and a new album

As for a motion of BMG Victor of the preceding clause, a motion of "Neat Metal Records" of its native country serves as a trigger, and it was said that various motions came out. It is a taking-its-hat-off thing at "Neat Metal Records" supporting revival plays, such as a release of re-formation and an album. And they appear in the motion which gains new Diehl not as the past band but as a future band. It was a contract with up-and-coming "ZRecord". Tygers Of PanTang which accomplished revival on this label, Burning Rain led by Doug Aldrich of Origin LION, etc. are the labels in which the barrel band has jostled so.

In July, 2001, ZRecord planned the big event for appeal of its label. The omnibus live that a label artist all appears. However, it will be the last moment and "SHY" will cancel. It is said that these they have canceled for reasons of delay of a release of a new album although the restorative "SHY" situation attracted attention from every country in the world. Probably, it will be certain that a rehearsal is insufficient. When "SHY" was appearing, it thought that the dignity of the event was also different, but it was regrettable without the performance after all.

It is the contents of the new album released even by canceling an event to expect an event from them who canceled from delay of a new album. However, it is although it was saying that the sound of "SHY" changed to AOR at the interview of Roy of those days ...

The long-awaited new single "Breakaway" was announced in November, 2001. "AOR" which Roy was telling at the interview had become the contents which summarized former "SHY" to the extent that it cannot be felt almost. On August 21, 2002, the new album "Unfinished Business" was announced simultaneously in Britain and Japan. Seemingly, they were doing admiration, when they had the work which it did and left, as the title showed. As language, the contents of the album are not "AOR", are summarizing old "SHY", and "SHY" is set very much in where of the album, and they had turned into listeners' satisfactory contents.

And the "ZRock" event was held in various places in 2002, and "SHY" has appeared several times.

Again, it is the transfer of Label ...

They who cut "Z Record" and a contract contracted with "MTMMUSIC". circumstances are unknown (although it seems that the artist of Z Record had transferred to MTM very well, I felt that there were some translations) -- "SHY" was able to make the contract with the New Deal but. This time and two members have joined. It became the appointment from the connections of Tony called Ian Richardson<G> and Joe Basketts<Key>, and "SHY" had become six-person organization.
Although the new album was due to put on the market in February, 2004, the album which became in October and was put on the market at last is "Sunset & Vine". The contents are the contents which followed the previous work mostly, and can carry out skilled of the stable "SHY" sound. However, if it turns over, changeless may have been a mortal wound of this album.

After an album release, the situation which does not change activity of a band a lot is made dissatisfied, it will secede again and Tony Mills will join formally in response to a participating request as vocal of the popular band "TNT" of Norway.

If it is called the big occurrence of "SHY" at such time, the other activity will not be told to the extent that "REFLECTIONS:THE ANTHOLOGY 1983-2005" was released. Possibly the situation with right the condition of Steve Harris saying that activity was not completed unsatisfactory also said.

The album for the first time in five years is a masterpiece which the character of resuscitation suits!

The orthodox wonderful power style member who tells Lee Small which had participated in SURVEILLANCE or PHENOMENA to the seat of the vocalist who became a vacant seat was received, and "SHY" was completed. The message which they say "The style of a band has changed nothing even if vocal changes" is putting the album title "SHY". It is thought clear that surely an album is heard. It changes into tough hard rock music only by putting the vocal of Lee on the hard pop sound which thought as important the melody line with the sadness in character with them. However, it is the sound which has employed the work of old "SHY" efficiently as it is. Although it turns out that these album all songs are listened to although there are probably naturally some persons who want to hear it by the vocal of Tony, it turns out well that it is finished on the album more wonderful than the time of Tony enrollment.

Steve Harris, Forever !

On October 28, 2011, he has been summoned to heavens by the brain tumor. It has died, before showing the figure in Japan ...

It is said that the illness of Steve was getting worse around from 2009. The album "SHY" was created in it. If it thinks that it is a thing to the extent that he has a hard time because of, you cannot hear it without a tear. As for a long distance, it will be told by his achievement in the future which will not be.

Probably, there is that no SHY is SHY except existence of Steve Harris. He wants to appreciate having offered good Hard Pop. And I want you to sleep peacefully. Thank you, Steve! Even if there is no Steve, many works will surely continue shining forever forever.

It was public that says that EBONY manufactured by Compilation Album of the phantom of EBONY manufacture. It is said that almost all costs were the payments of each BAND. "SHY" provides "Tonight" by this Album. Although it is the music of B-1 of 1st Album, the Version of this Album is more nearly rough-planed and it is interesting. The place where "SHY"-likeness has already appeared in the front at this time is uncanny. Probably, you may call it the highest music in this Compilation Album.

Memorable 1st Album of SHY. Although sound quality has a big problem, Play which is full of youth is choked up. To each music including "Take It All The Way", the good Pop Rock air route based on the beauty of form of Hard Rock is already completed as their charm. Jacket is also quite cheaper and Tony has given it to makeup. It is finished in the brilliant work to the extent that big change returns, even if it deducts such a minus point. I can think that there is a part which grows still more as the work after a next project merely shows. When "Take It All The Way" is heard for the first time, even now, he remembers impression ...

Although it turns out clearly that "Reflections" is heard, it is a work which can feel the growth from 1st album remarkable. However, the violence of 1st album hides a figure and feels thing insufficient. It cannot be overemphasized that it is influenced in respect of the big power of Major Label being various after all. A word of gratitude in BMG which planned the series called "The Eternal Master Works 70's to 80's" first of all. I feel that realization of this series led even to the recurrence of 1st album. The point that this album should be observed will be a bonus track after Track10. It is especially the merit of the music of "Behind Closed Door". Although it still seems that it is incomplete, if this music is completed and words etc. are entered by Album main knitting, I will feel that the impression of Album had also changed a lot. "Strangers In Town" may also be able to say the same thing. It is very regrettable that the music of such wonderful Melody Line was not used. Although it is also a portion felt for a question, it is also somehow mysterious and attractive.

However, B side is still more doubtful than A side. Although announced by recurrence CD, it is surprised if this music that can be listened to here is listened to. The track which can be heard with recurrence CD is an incomplete version, and the track here is recorded as music done completely. Why did it become such a thing? In this Album, the impression said that cooperation of Don Dokken etc. could also be obtained and the polish started by old Hard Pop is strong. It was put on CD like 2nd album, thanks to BMG. It is the overwhelming presence of "Don't Wanna Lose Your Love" which is especially mentioned by this making CD's, and it is the music recorded on B side of Single "Young Heart", and, probably, just this may say it as the music of "SHY". However, even if three music of Bonus Track is very an excellent piece of music and recorded anything on Album, it was felt for comfortable music, but possibly there was sense of incongruity in Album as a work side. In order to put power into the marketing effort of Single, possibly it was expected that the music of an Album level was it, but probably, the place which has fully responded is proof that their ability went up.

Since A side is referred to as no correcting and B side is called Fade Out, I can hear about the intention which says that "Under Fire" will develop and go to an ad pillar. After all, attention is a poster and its live shot of those days used several sheets is cool. It is very regrettable that there was no visit-to-Japan public performance.

It will be said that it is not connected with a hit, even if LP/EP is released, and it will be a good work, if follow is not solid. EP by which the contract was cut from RCA and EP was Released from minor FM. As long as the jacket of the thing made to expect whether there are many materials of Live is seen, lonesomeness is also given a little. The Live music recorded is contents which a fan satisfies although serves as representation music of 1st/2nd/3rd and it has come out of the minor label.

They who had the contract cut get a contract with MCA at last on both sides of the contract of an indies label from RCA by commercial failure of a previous work. Image, Sound, etc. as Band are established in a previous work -- I have you -- wasn't that was required to them only surrounding environment? Roy Thomas Baker is invited to Producer and the essence of Rock Sound of Britain is added rather than the previous work. Fundamentally, it is on the extension of a previous work. And the highlight of this album is "Broken Heart" with the beautiful melody.

Since inclusion time was longer than the LP record, CD expected some bonus track, but it is the completely same inclusion music as an LP record. UK design is adopted because the contents of a jacket are the same as that of UK.

The album which put amendment into the work announced in 1989, and was released towards U.S. advance. Since the band said to the United States as SHY already exists, an active part will be played in "SHY ENGLAND". Activity did not necessarily have change only by a band name changing only in the United States. If it gets used to hear UK version, it will be considerably uncomfortable to bring single music to the 1st music, and it will seem America. A logo is good touch.

Rather than a previous work, although 2nd single from "Mispent Youth" is the music appropriate for SHY, it has touch which is a little different from an old style too, and misses something. It does not come to feel that the intensity by the side of MCA is strong. Although it is B side of attention, it is the unpublished music on the extension of an album. Too, as music, it is highly complete and they think that the music for singles is making the album from a set this time also. AB side can be balanced well.

Not an exaggerated jacket but the normal jacket is a stripping design of the above-mentioned exaggerated jacket. It is written to the jacket as "PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY", and also is written to the record label to "Advanced DJ Copy Not For Resale". However, it is regrettable with an MCA sleeve perfunctorily an inner sleeve. Although there is danger of a needle jump in the case of a record and it also turns out that the same music is recorded on A side / B side, since in the case of CD it is meaningless even if it arranges two music in the same side, the contents are regrettable. It has been exposed of the problem by the side of a label. Various problems, such as a problem of the personnel affairs inside MCA and the contract end of the artist who cannot sell, broke out. Tony Mills which has presented the color of the SHY till then seceded, and Roy made Wardi of TROUBLE which belonged before join, and released the album. The single from "Welcome To The Madhouse".  Them who have dealt with many works. But, the music which is not original was released as a single. Tony Mills is long-awaited re-formation by re-subscription. It seems that and it is righter to say that the music made so far fundamentally and outtake music were mentioned in the contents although the release of new work was thought. An entire new song seems not to record it. However, it is only the musical piece which was excellent without also feeling oldness. Although it is that it is consistent from 1st album, a POP sense is continuing shining, without their music fading. The vocal of Tony after a long time is also comfortable, and it is easy to hear it. Incidentally, "Let The Hammer Fall" is "Shake The Nation", and "Love Is Just Another Word" is the remake of "When The Love Is Over".

Three years after seven years after Release of 13 years after Tony withdrawal, and "Welcome To The Madhouse", and "Let The Hammer Fall". They who started completely were late for the schedule for one year, and released the album. It seems that it had realized it as Album located in the next of "Excess All Areas" as their thought as the album title showed Steve and it thought "there is still work which it did and left".(Seemingly "Misspent Youth" was demanding a sound like Guns N'Roses as MCA, and it left Tony for the reason) The contents are the completion which does not have any sense of incongruity as a next album of "Excess All Areas". It is greatly corrected also about "Breakaway" and "No Other Way" by which precedence sale was carried out, and it is thought that brightness of the music is increased dozens of times. It is thought that the signal fire turned to activity so that the sky might be danced like "Skydiving" with which opening is decorated rose.

After re-formation, although the halfway album came out, days and months have flowed as they do not do something refreshed. It was set to 2001, the concrete motion came out, and the single was released at last. I have cleared the passing mark enough as a commercials single before the release of an album, and think that it had played the role. The hope for a new album is swollen greatly.
No fault is found even with the rust which music is the music as which the merit of brightness peculiar to them or tempo was expressed well, and can rise thoroughly on the melody line which is easy to memorize. And it seems to have recorded in the second half by the song selection with three sufficient music of inclusion. An acoustic sound impresses revival of SHY. The boldness which changes the original melody was able to feel their enthusiasm. It was impressed.

Neat Metal released the thing which sold at the rose whether the unearthed sound source was able to be used well by "2in1". Considering a disk number, it is in the state mixed as it was. However, although the following "2in1" is understood, the touch which mixed two sheets slightly by force carries out "2in1" here. The problem is separating too much quite temporally between two sheets. However, it will be an unavoidable combination if it carries out from four sheets of that time of Neat Metal. Since it is the same as the above-mentioned thing about the contents, there is no comment.

Real intention is glad although it is surprised that Best CD is released also by SHY. 33 music is heavy deep contents in two CDs. And the contents of surprise are included how many. "What Love Can Make You Do" will be the music which made John Francis of "After Hours" vocal and was recorded immediately after Tony seceded in 1990. However, this best is the thing which set the focus where, or an album which cannot be read. It may be only a meaning called All Time Best beyond a label. Although it may be quick to making those who do not know SHY hear it, I wanted to record and get "Take It All The Way" individually.

As for the album released after a long time, vocal was changed to Lee Small from Tony Mills. It was worried that the shift of vocal may cause a big change in a sound. However, the album to the extent that it can consider to a great success completed the member change. Although the style of vocal is not high-pitched tone, it is for hard rock in a power style, but the done music is "Hard Rock" very appropriate for SHY about which, and is finished in the thing harder than an old work. However, it is said that anxious one may serve as the last work by the condition of Steve.(This world will be left by October 28, 2011, immediately after a release, and a brain tumor). They are contents which feel easy about the meaning that gradual living SHY can be checked in 2011, and can be enjoyed.

British version CD of the album which is the last. It is the format which does not necessarily have something specially and in which even a bonus track is not contained. However, the thought referred to as being their last original album was put and ordered. The feeling said that I want Steve to choke up the SHY sound crowdedly from the first 1 second to the last 1 second, and to announce a work much more is also a wonderful work which becomes strong. He could like the guitarist in character with such a wonderful band matter fine! It is a last album which can be considered so.
